Water quality issues plague homeowners around the Monrovia area, and homeowners are exploring the best ways to ensure their families have ready access to clean, drinkable water. Water quality is impacted primarily by chlorine, its acidity, level of dissolved solids, suspended sediment, and hardness, but other factors also impact water's overall quality. That's why North Brothers Plumbing recommend evaluating a home's water quality and taking steps to correct any issues.

Protecting Your Family is a Must

A Whole House Water Filtration System is a recommended solution that removes contaminants from water. Doing so ensures everyone in a home is free from health threats involving the water they drink every day. Of course, whole-home filtration systems provide additional benefits that improve lives and save money. Protecting a home's plumbing system, fixtures, and appliances starts with evaluating the water supply.

Once the home's water supply is tested, a Water Filtration System can resolve any issues. Every area has unique water filtration needs, so our team explores the available options and recommends solutions for an individual home's requirements. Clean & chlorine free water provides multiple benefits, but the most important is ensuring contaminants are removed.

Our Water Filtration Services

Water filtration systems tend to be complex, which means routine servicing and repairs are recommended following an initial installation. The experts at North Brothers Plumbing work with clients to determine which services are needed and how often they should be scheduled. Those recommendations depend on the type of system installed and the anticipated water use for the household.

Check Out the Advantages of Whole-House Water Filtration Systems

Municipal water systems remove many impurities from their water supplies, but not all unwanted elements are removed. In addition, impurities in the lines from the treatment plant to a home may allow additional contaminants to enter the water supply. Quality water filtration services provide a number of benefits, including the following.

  • Water Filtration Systems Save Money. While whole-house filtration systems require an investment, the system starts saving money from day one. Clean & chlorine free water reduces wear and tear on all water-using appliances, which means they last longer and require fewer repairs. In addition, fixtures require less care, as staining and mineral deposits are reduced. Clothing lasts longer with a water softener installed because there is less friction during the washing process, and harmful residues aren't left on those clothing items.
  • Your Family's Skin and Hair Benefit. Properly filtered and softened water helps soaps work better. That means hair and skin are healthier and require fewer treatments using expensive lotions or conditioners. Chemical odors are also eliminated, so the chlorine smell is no longer an irritant.
  • Food and Drinks Taste Better. Chemicals, chlorine and some minerals add an off taste to foods and beverages. When a whole-house filtration system and a water softener are I nstalled, foods taste cleaner and fresher. So, for more enjoyable meals and better-tasting drinks, talk to North Brothers Plumbing today about a new filtration system.

We're always here to discuss these and other ways a whole-house filtration system benefits Monrovia area families.

Exploring Different Filtration Systems

Several types of water filtration systems are available, with some offering more benefits than others. That's why we always take the time to discuss the pros and cons of various filters with clients. Once a homeowner understands how a quality filtration system works, they're better able to make an informed buying decision. We always encourage homeowners to ask questions to ensure they understand what's involved and why we recommend whole-house filtration systems and water softeners.

One option homeowners frequently ask about is reverse-osmosis systems, and we'll gladly review them and other systems during our discussion. Knowing the benefits and disadvantages of all systems is crucial when making this type of investment in your home.

Installation and Service Options

Our team members are all well-versed in the intricacies involved when installing whole-house water filtration systems, water softeners and reverse osmosis. They explain the benefits of water filtration services in Monrovia so property owners know what will happen during the installation. When unusual issues are present, North Brothers Plumbing will review the problems and discuss ways to resolve them. We'll also review the equipment's service needs, so it continues to provide quality results for years to come.

Knowing When a Water Filtration System is Needed

In addition to testing, homeowners are encouraged to look for signs indicating a water filtration system, water softener or reverse osmosis system should be installed. The most obvious sign is a foul odor coming from the water. The other obvious sign is corrosion on pipes and faucet aerators, but other signs of corrosion may also be present. If these signs are seen, now is the time to contact our plumbing expert for advice.

Signs you need a water filtration system

We believe that every family deserves to have clean, safe water for drinking and bathing. Most municipal water supplies in our area provide water that is too hard and contains excessive amounts of chlorine and chloramines. This hard water can have serious effects on your health and on your plumbing system.

If you notice any of the following signs, you should consider a water filtration treatment system:

  • Your water smells or tastes like chlorine or other chemicals.
  • Your valves, pipes and other water fixtures are showing signs of corrosion or hard water scale.
  • You are concerned about the waste from plastic water bottles (and you'd rather drink and bathe in clean, pure water).
  • You want the cleanest water for your family and pets.

If you’re concerned about contaminants in the tap water you drink every day, you’re not alone. We all deserve to know what we’ll be putting in our bodies when we turn on the tap. This is one of the reasons why EWG created its Tap Water Database in the first place. See what's in your city's drinking and bathing water here.

If you want safer water for yourself and your family, bottled water isn’t the solution – not for your pocketbook, not for your health and certainly not for our planet. Your best option for cleaner, healthier drinking water on the go is filtered tap water and a reusable glass or stainless steel container. As we say, know your water, pick the best filter and choose a BPA-free container.

Here are six reasons to choose filtered water over bottled.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, tap water costs about $.002 per gallon1 – that's two-tenths of a penny – whereas a liter of water from the cooler in your local convenience store costs about a dollar before tax. That means you’re paying about 2,000 times more for bottled water. Nonetheless, Americans drank 12.8 billion gallons of bottled water in 2020, an increase of nearly 9 percent over 2019, according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation. There are much better things you could spend your money on than water in bottles – perhaps even a nice reverse osmosis water filter.

Laboratory testing by EWG has found all sorts of nasty stuff in popular brands of bottled water – disinfection byproducts, industrial chemicals, prescription drugs and even bacteria. And unlike your local tap water utilities, which are required to test for contaminants each year and disclose the results to the public, the bottled water industry can hide the test results. Knowledge is power, and with bottled water you’ll likely know nothing about what you're drinking.

It’s bad enough that the bottled water you’re drinking might be contaminated. But the bottle itself could be adding to the problem. An EWG investigation found that PET plastics – the kind used to make plastic water bottles and marked with a “1” on the bottom – can contain dozens of chemical additives, manufacturing impurities and breakdown byproducts. That’s more than 80 additional contaminants that could be leaching into your water. So get a reusable glass or stainless steel bottle, and fill it with filtered tap water.

EPA statistics show that less than 32 percent of PET plastic bottles and jars were recycled in 2014. That means the other 68 percent was left to clog landfills, harm wildlife and pollute waterways. In fact, the marine conservation organization Oceana estimates that up to 20 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans each year, with some collecting to form huge, free-floating landfills like the Pacific Garbage Patch, which is estimated to be about the size of Texas.

Trash isn’t the only environmental problem caused by water bottles. Analysis by the Pacific Institute, a global water think tank, found that it takes up to 2,000 times more energy to produce bottled water than tap water. It takes energy to make the bottles, fill them with water and ship them to your local convenience store – sometimes over great distances. In extreme circumstances, bottled water might be the best bet. Residents of Flint, Mich., for example, are relying on bottled water until their tap water is safe again. But for almost everyone else, filtered tap water is the clear winner.

You’ll save money on plumbing repairs because filtered water won’t cause as much wear and tear on your pipes.
